The Town of Banff and its partner organizations represented on this website work to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of a person's personal information is protected. All personal information is managed according to the Government of Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Collection of Information

We do not automatically gather any personal information from you, such as your name, phone number, email or address. Such information is only available to us if you supply it voluntarily by contacting us via e-mail or through online forms. Any personal information you do provide is protected under the privacy provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

 

When you visit this site, our web server automatically collects some basic information required for the operation of the site. This information is not used to identify individuals who come to the site, nor is it disclosed to other public bodies or individuals.

 

The information that is automatically collected identifies the following:

According to the FOIP Act, the staff authorized to access this information can only use it for the purpose described when you submitted that information. The Town and its partners authorized to operate programs never share your personal information publicly or with third parties.

 

While the personal information you send is secure once it reaches our server, it may not be secure in transit between your computer and ours, due to potential issues with your email or web services and connections between our servers.

Security measures are implemented in order that web services remain available to all users. Our computer system uses software to monitor unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or damage the service we provide. No attempt is made to identify users or their usage patterns except during law enforcement investigations.
